Rutland County CiCLE Classic 'Cross
6th Round of the British Cycling National Trophy Series 2009/10
Sunday 17th January 2010
Welcome to Britain's latest, and different cyclo cross race.
Building on from the International CiCLE Classic road race the Classic 'Cross has proved to be a worthy addition to our promotional programme.
Taking the riders along the very edge of beautiful Rutland Water, the event fulfilled its promise as the most varied and potentially best
cyclo-cross course in Britain, and the 2010 furthered this claim with the track receiving critical acclaim form the top notch group of Belgian visitors lead home by Top 'Crosser Rob Peeters (Telnet-Fidea) fourth in the Previous weeks Belgian Championships, just 12 secs in arrears of the great Sven Nys.

At the start there were nearly 90 riders for the Elite Men's race ...but at the finish, it was a Belgian 1-2-3.
With just 48 hours remaining to the event, the potential for the event looked poor, with thick ice coating the main finish straight, and giving impressions that the course would have to at least be redirected if a cancellation similar to that suffered by the previous weeks National Chaampionships planned for Sutton Park was to be avoided. However, less that 12 hours later the situation changed dramatically as a general thaw took hold and presented on the day bright sunshine for the events, and probably the best day of the Winter so far.
